D’après nous cette toile figure parmi l’une des plus belles œuvres de Lorne Bouchard. Tout y est. Son ciel, ses arbres morts singuliers, sa construction parfaite, sa vue imprenable et sa perspective époustouflante. Et la palette de ce chef d’œuvre est beaucoup plus diverse et colorée. Les couleurs sont vives et lumineuses. Et que dire de cette lumière diffuse d’automne qui se reflète sur l’eau et sur les rochers de la falaise. Lorne Bouchard maîtrise son art et il le démontre avec brio dans ce tableau. On entend presque le vent d’automne souffler dans les arbres et les vagues se fracasser sur les rochers. Du très grand Lorne Bouchard digne des plus belles collections.
Il a commencé à dessiner dès l’âge de sept ans. À dix-huit ans, il participe à une première exposition au Musée des Beaux-Arts de Montréal et la même année il fait partie d’une exposition de l’Académie royale canadienne des arts. En 1943, il est élu membre associé de l’Académie royale canadienne, dont il devient membre à part entière en 1962. Il a exposé dans les plus importantes galeries au Canada et au Québec. Sa production est limitée car tout au cours de sa vie il pratique le métier de peintre tout en occupant des postes réguliers d’illustrateur et de dessinateur pour plusieurs entreprises de Montréal.
Les œuvres de Lorne Bouchard se retrouvent, entre autres, au Musée des beaux-arts du Canada à Ottawa et au Musée des beaux-arts de Montréal et figurent parmi les plus prestigieuses collections privées.
L’œuvre est accompagnée d’un certificat d’évaluation avec photo préparé par l’expert Alain Lacoursière établissant la valeur de l’œuvre à 5 000 $ en date du 11 janvier 2017.

In our opinion this painting is one of Lorne Bouchard's finest works. You have it all. Its sky, its singular dead trees, its perfect construction, its breathtaking view and astonishing perspective. And the palette of this masterpiece is much more diverse and colorful. The colors are vivid and bright. And what about that diffused autumn light reflecting off the water and the rocks of the cliff? Lorne Bouchard masters his art and he demonstrates it brilliantly in this painting. You can almost hear the autumn wind blowing through the trees and the waves crashing against the rocks. A very beautiful work from Lorne Bouchard, worthy of the finest collections.
He started drawing at the age of seven. At the age of eighteen, he participated in a first exhibition at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts and the same year he was part of an exhibition at the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts. In 1943 he was elected associate member of the Royal Canadian Academy, of which he became a full member in 1962. He exhibited in the most important galleries in Canada and Quebec. His production was limited because throughout his life he practiced the profession of painter while holding regular positions as an illustrator and designer for several Montreal companies.
Lorne Bouchard's works can be found, among others, at the National Gallery of Canada in Ottawa and at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts and are among the most prestigious private collections.
The work is accompanied by a certificate of appraisal with photo prepared by the expert Alain Lacoursière establishing the value of the work at $ 5,000 as of January 11, 2017.
